Cool pics everyone! Hi PJ. I read your post about mean people to you, that’s awful! That’s their bad karma. Hope you’re feeling better. Mags, I sent you a PM Today, golf lesson, more wedding thank you cards. To wake up guilt free today, PRICELESS! Love to all my weekenders and lurkers 😉 |

Wise words, Mags. This week- I have had one' friend' who told me on her moving far away her new fridge was mine and she would keep in contact as I was a close friend. Three months later- a brief text saying the fridge was given away. No other contacts. - Another 'friend' terminated the friendship as we had nothing in common and my numerous faults were not worth listing. Which means the entire friendship was a lie. These incidence cause me to feel like an idiot...stupid and unworldly. - Some one has put 4 long, deep scratches on my car- and just driven away. I cannot afford to repair them... BUT - My drawing skills have definitely improved with much tortuous practice.. - I received a distinction for a theory/paintingsubject that 3y ago, I would have scraped a pass. - I received a credit for the history subject. I have great difficulties with words and numbers- due to cognitive damage cause by burns trauma, etcetc. This progress means my brain is still learning/healing I worked hard on what I could learn from my 2 friends....I did nothing ever to distress them greatly and do not harbor resentments- but sad and anger at being treated as a fool. I can only work on me- an the lives of others are not my concern. We work with what we have. I had a very similar experience 4 years ago. My best friend of 20+ years suddenly stopped returning my calls and my texts. We had gone out to dinner one night and she cut me off the next. We had a nice time at dinner and I have wracked my brain trying to think of something I might have said to offend her. But I come up empty handed. She blocked me on Facebook and even blocked my phone number. She sent me a final text that said “please do not contact me again”. When I replied, my number was already blocked. I had no idea why and still don’t have a clue. I ran into her husband about 2 years ago and he acted like nothing happened and even asked why they hadn’t seen me, thinking I had been THAT busy. When I told him the above, he was genuinely shocked! I still had the text and showed him. He couldn’t believe it. He said he was going straight home to ask his wife why and he was going to call me the following day. Well, I have never heard from him again either. It still bothers me and I wish she had come right out and told me she had outgrown the friendship, or something…anything. While I may not have liked it, at least I would know. It’s taken me a long time to not let it bother me as much as it did when it first happened. It now just makes me sad when I think about it. I think it’s great you are focusing on your other priorities. What kinds of things do you draw? LHW |
Kohlrabi is a German word and was popular when I lived in West Germany for a time so maybe that's where it's from. It's not too common here although I see it 8n South Asian stores sometimes. It's quite tasty. Enjoy your camping weekend Manta. Good luck with the shampoo Mags. My own hair has started to thin, had to happen I suppose. Good spot Cityboy, they are well camouflaged. Death Valley's 53C/127F has just edged London in the mid July high temperature stakes (16C/60F here:disappoin) Good luck this Weekend everyone. |
So happy to be here with you all. Have a wonderful day today. Library run today, apparently, mummy, can blast through books like no one I've ever seen. Love all your wonderful posts. Thank you for being here. You all help keep me sober so much. :tyou:grouphug: |
Free thanks for your message. :thanks LHW something very similar happened to a work colleague of mine. She was very hurt and upset when her friend had totally finished with her for seemingly no reason. :dunno: Aly, I’m happy to see you too love. :yup: Bim, they look similar to our turnips. Which are very tasty too. It’s good you’re getting to try out a variety of different vegetables. |
MesaMan, MesaPup’s coat looks magnificent after his grooming :yup: |
|
Catzilla! |
Mags, I was thinking that they looks like turnips, too. Hugs and I love turnips they are a good substitute for potatoes in stews. I was considering a stew for tomorrow’s dinner; it will be fun to see if the grands can tell the difference. (If the new shampoo doesn’t work out, let me know; I have discovered a fabulous one.) PhoenixJ, hope that you are feeling better. LHW, sorry that you had a similar experience. People can be enigmas. andyh, yikes! It seems as though he is looking for dinner. Free and a sea, those mountains are gorgeous. We are headed there this Fall; I am even more excited now. Aly, Sao, CityBoy, Dee, Robbie, Sao  |
WTH is that thing, andy? That's creepy! I hope it's just some photoshopped thing and not a giant robot cat on a ledge in downtown Tokyo...which I guess wouldn't be that surprising come to think of it. |
I don't want to link any of the articles due to ads and such, but it is a giant 3D billboard in Tokyo. |
It’s not one that I would like to encounter everyday. It is nightmarish. |
OMG. That is awful. Thank you for informing us. That is terrible. American Racehorses don't fare very well over their either. |

They have built a giant robot in Japan 18metres/60 foot tall. This is speeded up footage but impressive nonetheless. https://youtu.be/D084N4cxkNQ |
Golf lesson went well, going to try 10 holes in the wildfire smoke. Just choking outside. 🥺😩 Family with three young boys constantly romping and thumping and bumping and yelling and squealing and scraping chairs and slamming cupboards....... small stuff. Not sweating it. Aggravated. Drinking alcohol does not stop decible transfer through ceilings. DOES NOT. Leaving to try and golf will be a good distraction. Tonight sautéed steak and veggies. Water or iced tea, and an OTC sleeping pill. Noise cancelling headphones if needed. 🤓🤪 |
I used to sweat the small stuff but as I got older, I didn't do that so much. Now I'm more selective as to what I let bother me. Nice weekend. :) And of course, waking up sober is the icing on the cake. Mags, let me know how that shampoo/soap bar works out. |
Good for you Least. A long time ago, my sister had a friend in college and she said, "you always decide what kind of a day you are going to have. You don't let others decide it for you!". If you do one thing for yourself, don't give another person enough power to ruin your day or decide what type of day you will have! That is your decision. Love and peace to all! :grouphug: |

Simply gorgeous, Free. Thank you. |
Good Morning Weekenders:wavey: Free, looks stunning. Aly, I like the words of your sister’s friend. In this day and age, with all the social media sites, being young must be difficult. Well at any age really, but we tend to get a bit wiser with age. Thanks Leigh. :) Lovely sunny morning to start the day. We’re going to Brigg garden centre for lunch today. I was going to be cooking lunch for mum-in-law but she forgot and made arrangements for us to go. Her dementia seems worse some days than others. Yesterday nothing was right for her and she acted like a spoilt child. I know this is all part of the disease but I found it hard. It can be stressful some days. See you later xxxx |
Very much struggling this weekend. Not overly wanting to drink, just with overwhelming feelings of impending doom, panic, stress and anxiety. I have ativan prescribed to me and I've had to take it twice this week. That's more than I've taken in 2 years!!!! Anyways, always thankful to this thread because it reminds me I dont have to drink on weekends. |
Samantha sorry you’re struggling. I hope your prescribed meds help. I have had those feelings many times. More-so in the past. I was prescribed meds that helped me. I know when I first started taking them it was in my drinking days and I drank with them which didn’t help me. |
Morning Weekenders :wavey: It's Sunday morning, the best morning of the week to be sober. Well, every morning is the best morning to be sober but a sober Sunday morning has a special feel to it. It's because of the many years I would spend Sunday morning feeling very hungover and ill. Samantha, sorry to read that you are struggling this weekend . Hopefuly you will feel a bit better soon. Mags, sorry to read about your mother-in-law struggling yesterday. Hopefully you will all have a better day today. Free, that is a lovely picture of the sunset. I love pictures like this. Hopefully everyone has a good day today. I'm feeling nervous about the big match tonight (England v Italy in case anyone has managed to miss it being mentioned in one or two threads!) but I am intending to forget about it for a few hours and instead concentrate on enjoying a lovely Sunday morning / afternoon. |

I mean, I don't want to rely on pills, but it has just been necessary lately. |
Sometimes they just help. You don’t need to take them forever but it’s good that you have them for when needed. I stupidly used to drink even when taking medication way back. That’s what addiction did to me. :dunno: |
Morning Weekenders. That's a fine sunset Free2 even if it is caused by woodsmoke. Sending positive vibes Mags and anxiousrock. Football later, I expect all the outdoor bars to be packed. I read yesterday that 13 million pints of beer will be sold in England today, an unwanted record.:c025: I also suspect today will prove to be a Delta variant Covid superspreader day. At least most adults are now vaccinated. I'm really looking forward to the game now but expect the tension to begin mid afternoon. Good luck England. |

. I used to stay in Shinjuku at the Tokyo Hyatt. The Train Station - where the giant Cat Billboard is - is one sprawling, amazing mini City. You have to remember which Exit you came in at until it becomes rote. Anything you want can be had there. Including some fab, low cost, uber-fresh Sushi served on lil Boats that float by. Yum City! Besides MesaMate having an elegant Kimono from there, and nice Chopsticks, my prize possession from a Shinjuku Shop is seen below: a Godzilla Foot Bank. The Toes glow in the dark. The keen Eye can note the tint from the Grassland Wildfires that Free mentioned. Tokyo Neon is pretty insane, and I can see where the next attention-getter would be a 3D Billboard. Mesa, that bank is awesome. I love that you showed us that. Sober Sunday morning: here at bim-in-the-branches, only an eight pound cat on a princess perch by the window watching bunnies below. Coffee in hand, pondering the 13 million pints and a game half a world away. Such a weird and wonderful world it is. Blessings to all the still suffering alcoholics and anyone who loves them today. |
