Im really looking forward to seeing this baby bird come out into the world! Thank you for sharing, Bimini! And, OH! According to the eagle cam site notes, there are pips on both eggs. (Pip = that little crack where the beak is starting the break-out process.) There is a video of it viewable just below the regular live cam on the eagle cam site. MantaLady, congrats on the job. Is it the ocean one? |
Hi everyone! Can’t see the posts entirely from my phone, looking forward to seeing the birds, and all the posts here. climbing aboard ! love you all, L |
Hiya Free2bme  Bim, I just watched the lower video where the pip appears! Thanks :) |
 Free. Congrats, Manta and Willow. I have been watching the eagle cam much of the morning. Cant wait to see the eaglets. It is so. I have fun when they are all feet and fur. Thanks, again, Bim, for bringing this to our attention. Happy Saturday, all. |
Hi All, Just a quick weekender hello. My customary Saturday evening Fish & Chips are in the oven and all is well here. Thanks Mags for the thread opener: “Suddenly we are faced with ourselves, who we really are. Someone we haven't seen or got to know in a very long time. We may not know how to react. To ourselves or to others. Look in the mirror and say glad to meet me.” How true! Thankfully I'm quite pleased with what I am finding as I gradually get to know the new me... as are others I'm told. As I often say, all only possible in sobriety. Congrats Manta and Willow on the new jobs. My new career came at just the right time in my sober journey and was really helpful in reinforcing the changes I was making. Good luck! Anyway, my supper is ready so I'd better go. Warm wishes to all. Forwards. |
I am here too...a bit antisocial last few.... mostly from dealing with humans |
I hear ya PJ, mostly I prefer non-human animals :lmao: Thanks for the congratulations, I’m really quite chuffed about the way things are falling into place. I just have to stay sober, one step at a time. Today the sun is out after lots of rain, and there are butterflies everywhere, so lovely :) |
noticed you're a bit subdued PJ - let us know if we can help :) D |
Hi everyone, It’s a dreary, foggy drizzly Saturday night here and I’m tucked in bed with tea and tv and devices. All the sounds of my small city are muffled..it’s delightful. Had a bit of an epiphany about the anxiety I struggle with frequently. I’m rarely present in the here and now. There’s time traveling and all manner of speculation, creativity,..it’s loosely based on something concrete but becomes much bigger. If I stop and look at now, today..things seem much better. It won’t be easy to catch the runaway train but try I will. Don’t want to waste my precious Saturdays worrying anymore . A Weekender doesn’t do that..haha I like the eagle cam too 🦅 💕. I am enjoying all the posts the last couple of Weekends. It’s a happy place but there are also good positive posts that get me thinking about my recovery. I like coming here. Congratulations Manta and Willow on your new jobs! So happy to be here and sober tonight, xx Vo |
Oh my goodness! I can see one of the baby eagles, it popped it’s little head up and looked straight up at the camera ❤️ Mumma eagle (Harriet) was still sitting over it protecting it, but she was half standing up, doing some tidying up (pecking) of the remnant eggshell laying next to it, and it wiggled its fluffy little body a bit and looked up. Thanks Bim, I have had a few looks already, and today the eagle cam link has completely made my day ❤️ I really feel so grateful for seeing this beautiful nature’s baby, It wouldn’t have happened when I was drinking. |
Thanks, once again Mags, for another meaningful weekender. Still mourning Dad, waiting for my sister to get her @@s here, 3 weeks later. Doing my best to take care of mom @ 89 with severe diabetes. Thanks, Neil. Thanks, Metallica. I think tomorrow I'll have to set up the Cary mono tube amps. E34L's, not EL34's. HAHA. They heat the room nicely and sound incredible, with small Klipsch bookshelves, Kimber Kable KCAG pure silver wiring interconnects, and vintage Audioquest Green Hyperlitz speaker cable. Mini concert. Tomorrow, I will house my 4 new vinegaroons. Photos will follow. Thanks, SR. I hope everyone is doing well. Hang tough. |
Thelyphonida 1 Attachment(s) Harmless, non-venomous. They can spray a vinegar-like concoction from their tail. Scary looking, but totally docile. Be well, everyone. |
Lunar, grieving takes it’s time, no rush, go with the flow. Good you’re available to care for your mum, it can’t be easy.. I was just about to google vinegaroons and you’ve put a photo of one of yours. the vinegar substance they spray must help against any would be predators maybe, or attract other vinegaroons. :dunno: VoVo glad you’re here. Always good to see you. My stepmum who is 95 in July, has just come out of hospital after being in over a week after a fall. They found her heart has two leaking valves but can’t operate, because of her age, and she refuses blankly for an operation. Anyways, her doctor was looking for an alternative meds for her. 🙏. Of course we can’t visit because of this darned virus. Willow, I didn’t see it’s little head, I’ll have another look. Thank you again Bim for the link. No news on Gorilla Nadiri yet! I’m keeping my eye on her. You’ll be so pleased when you can visit again. There’s so much for you to catch up on. Freezing cold here, didn’t warm up all day yesterday, stayed white over with frost and ice. Keep safe, see you in a bit. xxxx |
PJ, dealing with humans doesn't do much for me either. |
Mags, sorry you can't visit your stepmum. Poor thing. If I live to 95 I'll be refusing treatment(s) too. Dealing with the trials of life seems to be cumulative. The eagles on the live cam have both hatched successfully. Excellent. Yesterday I finally got out for an actual walk to my golf course park where the local eagle nest is. I received my ankle brace from Amazon and it worked well along with my walking stick. Amazingly I saw six adult Bald Eagles all flying in close proximity to each other. It was beautiful. I've never seen them do that other than on feeding frenzy. There were two of them flying so close together I thought there would be one of those talon-locking death spins that they do in mating season - but it didn't happen. I've only seen that once, and it was at the ocean. Still - - epic day for the eagles in general yesterday. :) |
Bim, I saw the broken egg and for a minute my heart was in my mouth until I read they’d both hatched. Great stuff. Sounds like you had a lovely walk and seeing 6 eagles together must’ve awesome! Glad the ankle brace is helping. :yup: |
All baby eagles look the same to me, but they are cuties. |
(((lunar))). Grief is hard work, isn’t it. You are so good to care for your aging Mom; hope that your sister arrives soon to give you some assistance. (((Mags))). I am so sorry to hear about your stepMIL; COVID really complicates the situation - sigh. What a situation for your family. You are in my prayers. A friend’s aging Mom just died a few days ago; her family had not been allowed in the nursing home for months. Her adult children had to suit up in full protective gear in order to see her to say goodbye; they “held” her dying hand in thick gloves. It was torture for them. |
