Almost two full weeks! It sounds like you're moving right along. Every day we get further away from the addiction, the easier it gets.

Good luck with your move!

Convalescence 09-14-2020 10:10 PM

Amen to that, dpac414. And thank you so much!

I definitely feel more emotionally in-tune and whole as I take steps to be free from addiction. I can look back on some of the things I did and cringe at them, acknowledging that they were wrong. Living dependent on a substance or habit robs me of energy I need to live a healthy, full life.

Day 13.

MaximusD 09-15-2020 03:54 PM

2 weeks is a great milestone. Often you are leaving some of the more acute stuff behind.

Convalescence 09-15-2020 10:05 PM

True enough. It does get easier as time goes on. I have a helpful mental image of it as a 'fog' literally leaving my brain.

Day 14.

Dee74 09-15-2020 10:44 PM

congrats on 2 weeks man :)

Convalescence 09-16-2020 10:00 PM

Thanks Dee. I always appreciate your support, you've been a big help in my life.

Day 15.

Day 16,

Last day before the move. A bit excited and nervous but eager to see how things unfold tomorrow. Glad I'm living authentically now and don't have something on top of my other stresses to deal with. Continuing to cope maturely and responsibly.

Dee74 09-17-2020 10:34 PM

best wishes on the move :)

Moving is so stressful but can also feel like a catharsis. Getting rid of all the stuff you don't need and setting up a whole new place is refreshing (outside of carrying all the stuff in and all the other moving nonsense). I hope it goes well for you, Convalescence. I'm sure you'll let us know. :)

MaximusD 09-18-2020 10:59 AM

Be wary during and after the move. A big change in environment can be a AV out of nowhere situation. At least for me.

Day 17.

Thanks all,

I have to journal a little early tonight since I'm getting up early in the morning. I'm doing well and plan to report the same after the move.

I heard you MaximusD. I'm still hearing my AV every now and then but it's getting less frequent and powerful as time passes. Moving has had the opposite effect in my life, though I don't think just changing geographic location is what helps me get better. I do associate it with my recovery from alchohol years ago, but I know community engagement is at the heart of things.

Love you guys.

Day 18,

Moved in, exhausted, sober. Happy all around. God is good.

Sober45 09-19-2020 10:20 PM

Way to go, Convalescence! You are doing the mental work that is required. It’s a lot of effort but eventually things move to autopilot.

Convalescence 09-20-2020 10:09 PM

Thanks Sober45! You're right, I'm really proud of myself for getting everything done. The process has been super smooth and I just have to make one more trip back to my old place to pick up a few things, clean, and turn in my key.

Day 19. I did a bit of unboxing and light shopping today. In the next few weeks, I want to find a good church here and settle in. I have a good feeling about this place and am going to stay positive about my life going forward.

Sober45 09-21-2020 10:18 AM

You go! Positivity is a choice. Hopefully today is the big 20!

Anna 09-21-2020 11:54 AM

I'm so glad the move went well, Convalesence, and that you see the move as a positive thing.

Congratulations on your sobriety.

Convalescence 09-21-2020 09:27 PM

Thanks so much Sober45 and Anna!

Day 20, keeping busy after my move and started my first day of work at my new place. Hope to have some more time to explore the city this week. Staying emotionally and spiritually healthy in the meanwhile.

Much love, all.

dpac414 09-22-2020 06:40 AM

Good to hear, Convalescence. :)

I can't believe it's almost been a whole month already!

Convalescence 09-22-2020 10:04 PM

Same dpac414. Time really does fly.

And three weeks under my belt now, it feels nice. Thanks for your encouragement, I couldn't do it without you.

Excited to be living to my fullest tomorrow and forever.

Convalescence 09-23-2020 10:11 PM

Day 22,

Still unpacking and settling in to my new environment. Continuing to live stability and in gratitude for peace of mind.

Much love, all.
