Hello!

Sorry i've been away for like 5 days or something... but, they've all been sober!!!!
I'm in my new house and I had no internet, I presumed I'd be able to tether from my mobile but I got blocked.

Then I broke my ankle! Gah! Sober!!!!
urgh its ugly so my plans of getting all moved house and starting fresh have all been rubbished. So frustrated. So excited to be living on a basketball court & next to a gym etc etc. Anywho, it's a bad break so I have to go see some specialist. bah.

Got some social things to go to at the weekend really don't want but I'm in no mood to drink, don't think I could get around!

Sleep is still all off. that night I last posted I didn't end up sleeping, the next night 4 hrs, then I broke my ankle and then I've been a bit zonked out with pain killers and tired trying to sort my new house.

Hope your ok Croydonlad, and everyone else :)

Hopefully you're getting settled into your new house but sorry to hear about your ankle!

Broken bones are never fun but on the upside you stayed sober throughout. Well done!

Is your ankle giving you pain at night too? Do you have to keep it raised when you sleep? I sprained mine really badly a while back and it was really awkward to sleep as well as painful because I had to keep it up.

I'm good thanks! Just started day 8. Just over an hour in lol. My sleep patterns are normal and I'm not crazy at night now. I just need to get to sleep earlier but that's just a case of me actually getting into bed earlier rather than not being able to sleep because of insomnia.

Hope your ankle fixes quickly!

oof yeah it hurts, and the pain is tiring just can't fall asleep.
I have to keep it up at night, i've found the awkwardness gives you pain elsewhere like in the hips. I am waiting for an appt with an orthopaedic specialist who will run some more tests and see what to do. They are unsure at the moment there is not much keeping my ankle in place as a lot of ligaments have torn. Seems i'm in for a long stretch for healing though. Karma!

Congrats on day 8!!!

hey bud, that truly sucks on your ankle, but it's not all rubbished. You HAVE started fresh. Five days sober is a great fresh start. I wish you the best.

eeeh no i'm 10 days sober! I started before I moved :)
But thank you!

croydonlad 10-03-2013 02:47 AM

Sounds nasty! Hope you had a reasonable night.

Well done on 10 days sober Twinings! Hope your ankle gets better soon.

Twinings 10-06-2013 04:03 PM

Evening all! Hope your all well?

Phew what a hectic week! Seems I've not had a minute to myself and constantly forced into situations involving booze! (lots of family gatherings)

Still no drinking tho. Should be 2 weeks now! Cravings cravings cravings... I think cus I can't get to the gym i'm sat twiddling my thumbs :(

croydonlad 10-06-2013 04:09 PM

How's your ankle?

At least your a member of a gym. I need to sign up to one!

I've just finished day 11 of being sober but instead of going out drinking this weekend I went out for two three course meals with both involving pizza and chocolate fudge cake and ice cream.

Oh well!

Twinings 10-06-2013 04:18 PM

Hey Croydonlad,

It's not good. I'll go back for some scan results this week and decisions about what to do with it. might be an operation. I'm getting about ok but I have to bike to the gym so there's no way I could go that far even to just work out my upper body.

mmm I bet you enjoyed that food much more than drinking! especially the day after! :)

croydonlad 10-06-2013 04:35 PM

Doesn't sound like fun but hopefully you can get it fixed!

Twinings:
It looks like, despite your broken leg, you're holding the line on your resolve not to drink. Let me just say this. If you persist in not drinking and doing everything you can not to drink, including avoiding family gatherings which involve alcohol if necessary, and avoiding other situations where there is drink or pressure to drink, then I guarantee you that you will eventually find a level of happiness that you cannot even imagine. It's there, waiting for you. You've made a splendid start. Don't throw it away. It's an investment. Try not to put yourself ever again through what you've been suffering the past week or so. Good luck.

W.

Thanks for the kind words wpainterw.

If I could of avoided the family gatherings I would have but no such luck. Now tho I have plenty of time to rest and not be around booze.

I will go to my first meeting when I can get about a bit easier.

Afternoon all, or morning/evening wherever you are.

Am really frustrated today. I've got no money and my leg is hurting a lot. Can't stop thinking if I get smashed it won't hurt so much and I won't be so bored. Cabin fever!
I won't... Just the thought of going to the shop is enough to put me off but there's this niggling idea of ordering it to my house... there is an alcohol delivery service.

urgh this is tough!

Twinings 10-08-2013 01:54 PM

oh jeeze tonight is tough...
I'm in so much pain, my gf couldn't give a ****.. infact the only time i've spoke to her was her asking if its ok to go to the pub at the end of the week.

NO!

croydonlad 10-08-2013 02:18 PM

Don't go to the pub! Tomorrow is a new day and you'll feel better and you'll definitely not feel great with a hangover! Plus those alcohol delivery services are so expensive!

****...
All i can say, man the delivery service feels like a life line right now...

croydonlad 10-08-2013 03:29 PM

No! You know it's the wrong thing to do otherwise you wouldn't be on here and drinking will only make feel worse overall.

Go to sleep and you'll feel differently and hopefully better tomorrow.

Twinings 10-09-2013 12:27 AM

I took your advice and fell asleep.
So strung out feels like I passed out! urgh not a good feeling!

Twinings - it sounds like you're doing very well. I had another binge at the weekend but I've been trying to keep it secret. I was like you - several days just drinking, smoking some dope and really not eating. I somehow managed to pull out of it on Sunday morning. I didn't have much choice but to sweat it out on Monday - my emotions were all over the place and my body was so, so exhausted. What's really helped since then is taking the right kind of foods. Smoothies, fresh fruit, vegetable soup and some vitamins. I've also put on nicotine patches because I know that smoking messes up my appetite and then the cycle starts again. It's really NOT easy, I know. But let's try to stay strong together. It's better than it was, right? Let's not mess it up by bingeing again.
