The way she handled death, Kathy taught us so much about life.

Rest in peace, my friend.

Saskia 01-12-2019 05:25 AM

I will miss Kathy’s lovely presence wherever I went here. I am glad I got to meet her when we had lunch during one of my flying trips to Maryland :ws_flower

Have a good day, Overs.

Death is a dialogue between
The spirit and the dust.
“Dissolve,” says Death. The Spirit, “Sir,
I have another trust.”
Death doubts it, argues from the ground.
The Spirit turns away,
Just laying off, for evidence,
An overcoat of clay.

– Emily Dickinson

Rest in Peace, Gilmer / Kathy.

Kathy had a lot of love in her heart.
She had just sent me a PM in December, sending prayers to my family and some difficulties we were having with our son. May she rest in peace.

Andy,
Yes, I have always admired Emily Dickinson's poems and works. She had health issues several times and many of her poems are subtly, or not, about death and related topics. I liked her non committal ending to this one, with no religious overtones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Dickinson

I have our emails between me and Kathy, more than a few and less than 100. We discussed her findings and pursuit of the historical basis for religions of the world , a passionate interest we both shared, from different perspectives but both interested in actual history, not just one side of the story. She was like a sponge and grasped the import of historical balance in faith based subjects. I just re-read them over the last days and smiled a lot. These were before her Dx of cancer. And now she has all the answers. She was a 10 cubic foot mind and heart in a 5 cubic foot world. Her papers were interesting reads. She will be missed.

Have my 30 day follow up Tuesday for my 2nd Lasik surgery. Then I can head up to Colorado and find our perfect last house. We've been here 15 years and fifteen years from this year I will be 82. (67 this year) So no more houses after this next one, unless we decide to move to an over 55/senior subdivision with tiny houses. And no yard work.

Have a great week overs. Make every day count, one lesson we all have learned first hand from Kathy.

Thanks Dee I'll take it, but it is the final post surgery 30 day follow up. So while it feels OK, and I'm a fast healer, well wishes are never questioned by me. :You_Rock_

Good morning glorys! I'm going to bed.

Wasn't planning on attending the card show yesterday, but I did anyway. Picked up some 1972 Topps Baseball cards. Been working on that set for awhile, but it's a monster (787 cards total) and the higher number cards are more scarce and thus much more expensive. I need about 120 more, so will work on chipping away a little at a time.

Have a Marvelous Monday, overs!

I went to my very first flea market yesterday, looking for a new refurbishing project. Learned that I need to work on my bartering skills, they are non existent so I know I paid more than needed to,,, anyway I came home with these:

Gumball machine, it works, mechanism is sticky but I think I can get it working better. Going to sand it down, paint it fun colors and give it to Granddaughters.

and this in a walnut case- https://i.postimg.cc/23r6CRws/005.jpg

I also bought this and am not sure what to do with it so would like advice. It is a chinese wedding basket, in decent shape. Originally I was going to sand it down and repaint or stain it. But the color is good and inside was this print out

https://www.chairish.com/product/115...er-wood-basket There are a few symbols on it:

Should I do anything with it? Yay or Nay?
