Hello. Day 9 is not a great day. I feel like dog poop. I did wake very early and got my coffee and breakfast sandwich, but I was hit by tiredness. I came home and slept for a while. Now I have to make sure I get my groceries and come straight back.

My dad is very proud of me 😲 as crazy as that sounds. I think the positivity in my voice is powerfully persuasive. I might just go with him get my food. I already said to him we need to make sure I’m in the house, locked up, before evening time.

I’ve been getting a buzzing noise from the old Acura. It’s a wheel bearing in the back. Each wheel has a large bearing assembly. There’s 180,000 miles on those bearings. The car has those miles because I replace things, usually by ordering online and having my cheap mechanic do it. If there are 4 wheels and each has a bearing, I’m not the guy to replace 1. They all have 180,000 miles on them. However, before sinking even $ into it, I’d like to have it looked over to make sure everything is ok by a highly reputable shop in the area. That way they can tell me what condition the car is in. It looks like s**t. Clear coat is coming off and, dents scratches. If I bring it to a Name Brand Shop they’ll kill me on price. Criminals!! I might call that shop or drop in today. The car may need another chunk of money thrown at it to get me through the next 2 years. Every 2 years I sink a couple a sizable chunk into it 😓 so I remain debt free. But if something expensive goes I’m toast.

Later on

Well I ain’t drinkin’ today. I feel like death. Day 9 Blues??? If I played guitar I’d make a song out of that. Ok at Whole Foods door and going home. I slept half the darn day.

Post later

Well done V!!

Will post tomorrow.

Hi everyone, good day on the golf course, and guess what? You actually golf better when your sober, who would have thought🙄...just wanted to quickly check in before bed.

Vipe, I got my truck inspected today and it ended up costing me $876! I feel your pain with the vehicle, and no way I want to go and take out a loan for a new vehicle when I have a perfectly good paid for one sitting in my driveway. Yes it cost sometimes, but not every month 👍🏼

Quit, sorry you drank but you came right back here, so keep moving on and coming back here💜

Hope all is well out there and much love to the rest of the crew💜💜

Happy sober night night😴. :grouphug:

Vipe - I'm enjoying your posts and love to see you progress. I chuckled a little when you said "30 minutes to Day 9" only because early on that's exactly how it has to be. One day, one hour, one minute at a time... You are doing so well, keep it going!

Daisy - we have had a break in the heat. I walked my dogs yesterday evening and it was a beautiful night. I almost got myself out on my deck but chose bed and Hulu instead. I'm watching a new show called Handmaid's Tale. Very chilling. It makes a person feel very grateful to have freedom of choice...to not be a prisoner. Actually, alcoholism when active very much feels like your a prisoner. Sobriety is freedom.
I hope you get a break from the heat soon and a solid nights sleep.

Donnyb - omgoodness....fantastic job getting to the top of that hill. I bet you were proud of yourself (and you should be!). I hope this shows you that you are capable of so much more than a life of drinking. I'm very happy for you.

Strawberry, Suze, Rowlands, Erratic, Bluesy, sunshine, lovehoops, Quit4now, Nichole, Dee....Hope you are all well :grouphug:

Day 103 here.

103 Kgirl!!👏🏼👏🏼💜💜

Viperidae 07-26-2018 08:33 PM

Wow 103 Kgirl!! Excellent!!!!

Donny, yes the car. This is tedious so if you don’t care about the car skip it, except Donny!! The crazy thing is the difference in prices. I made an appointment for an inspection by a private shop, and the bearing, as it getting a bit louder. Now a shop like Firestone wants $300+ to do a wheel bearing, and I’m not even sure what that includes. I went to the NAPA web site and the entire hub and bearing assembly for their ‘basic replacement’ is $67 (full hub and bearing). I then found the same ones online for $33-$43. Now if I buy 4 full assemblies online and have my dudes in the ghetto put them in, I think we are at the $400 mark. If I go with better parts it would add $200. It’ll take them an hour. Then I have all 4 wheels done. That’s the way I usually roll with this car. My guys have kept it going like a well for many years now, and cheap. I didn’t realize there was anything left to replace under there.

Normally I buy good parts, but the first set of Acura bearings went at least 180,000 miles. The first appointment will cost me but they’re going to go over the whole car. They’ll probably say the car is fine and charge me $400 to put a solo bearing in 😓. But if I can take it to 220,000 miles, that’s 3 years. Nice to have money and just buy a better car.

But I totally agree. Payments??? I’ve never done it. I’d like to get a low mileage Crown Victoria about now. Badass. Nothing goes on them.

Again a half hour to a new day. Day 10 🐅

Thanks for all the support. My friend is tellling me that booze wants to hold me down but I’m stronger than that. My dad is asking how it’s going and keeping a watchful eye on me.

They just came out with sale fairs on the airlines. Ugghhh round trip from here to South Florida $150???? The problem is getting a hotel room by the beach. I mean 3 nights is not cool. Fly 1500 miles and come right back. Airbnb’s are not cheap. It’s all full apartments

Viper I am loving your posts !! Although ...cars and money! Ugh. I have a paid for car but its getting on a bit now and last year needed £800 ( $1100) of work doing to it and only 2 months ago the catalytic convertor needed replacing and that was nearly £500.! I hate spending money on cars and where I live I don't even need one to get around however I do need it to get to work. So hey ho. I need a car to get to work to earn the money to pay for the car!!! Haha!
Anyway you are doing great and hmmm lets see ...things already seem to be improving slightly with your dad? That's a start hey. There is no limit to what will improve when we put down the poison!! My sponsor tells me not to underestimate the tiredness we feel in early sobriety. Not only are our body and minds healing after what we have put them through for so long but the mental and emotional toll of staying away from that first drink is exhausting.I am so exhausted every night still 3 months later. But you are doing amazing 🤗🤗 Imagine dealing with all your car stuff hungover {shudder** No looking back now Vipe you are on the right path!

Hi everyone else.
Daisy that is lovely to hear about your grandson. Brought a tear to my eye. 😊😊
Donny, glad you enjoyed your golf game!!! Everything is better sober, alcohol just tries to tell us different. Never listen. Its all lies!
Quit so sorry you drank lovely. Get back on the right path with us.
Kgirl...103 days! You're rocking it!!
Hi Erratic hope u have a lovely time with your daughter and grandson.
Hi Strawb! Hope you're not working too hard as usual!

I have had a bit of a challenging week. It started on sunday at my mum and dads. My brother and his wife were both drinking red wine. Alot of red wine! At one point when I was on my own in the garden I picked up the glass full of wine (my drink of choice) and sniffed it. Then I wondered if I could get away with a sip!!!! Tuesday the kids broke up from school. We took the girls for pizza after. At a pub! A pub I used to drink in alot! To be fair only one of the girls was drinking but still. I was surrounded by alcohol. It was like being in shark infested waters. Yesterday we went for a bbq at one of the mums house. I have only got to know her recently and I like her but she is a big drinker. The prosecco and wine were flowing. I was on diet coke. I had talked to myself before I went and decided I would leave when things got too much. I went to the bathroom alot to say the Serenity Prayer!!! Anyway 2 of the mums ended up having a row and one left. The other 2 were knocking it back. At 6pm after 3 hours I made my excuses to go but as the host was drunk she was chat chat chat and "stay till I finish my story" etc! I ended up getting out of there at 7.15! At 10.30 last night I got a text fron her they were both still in the garden drinking! Their 6 year olds still up playing. No judgment from me, I used to do the exact same thing but I was so grateful to not be that person and to be home and safe in bed my daughter tucked up and snoring next to me.
Anyway, Dee, I know what you will say and you are right 😂😂 I am going to make some serious changes about who I spend my time with and where. They are lovely women but I am really serious about my recovery, I don't ever want to revisit that dark place I was in before and if I continue to hang around drinking people in drinking places ...well, I probably WILL drink again.
So this afternoon I have made plans to meet up with 2 women in recovery and tomorrow we are having a sleepover at my good (non drinking) friend's house!! Snitch is finally making some changes 😂😂

Its 6am here , am gonna try and catch another hour before madam wakes up!!

Love you all I really do!!:tyou

Congrats on day 10 Viper :)

Quit - don't stay out there - the sooner you come back 'in', the easier it will be. There's nothing out 'there' but more misery.

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Snitch you’re right. Dealing with the car stuff hungover with all the anxiety and OCD on overload?? 😬 Horrible.

And yes you cannot underestimate the tiredness. It’s brutal. The crippling tiredness should give way in in the next 10 days. Then it will become a more manageable tiredness. Speaking of the car, while drinking I would have let that wheel bearing go until the wheel broke off. I got an appointment right away. Just that is a Big Change!!

Thanks everyone.

HAPPY BDAY DEE!!! Nothing can replace your words of wisdom. ✨🌟✨

I’ve definately got a boost today. It won’t be like this every day but I started to feel better. I’ll post after I’m on lockdown. I still need to go out for a few things.

I getting presents in the mail today. One arrived by the Postal Service and there is a FedEx package coming 😃. I’m waiting to hear a truck pull in.

Evening everyone

Am just in my bed. The days are going by so fast! My day started off well and had declined rapidly by the afternoon but the good thing was I had a very fleeting thought of a drink (to ease the stress) followed by another thought of ugh no way that would be gross and how can I deal with this stress now drinking is not an option? This thought only took a second to take place and was a subconscious thought which was pretty damn amazing and I think (hopefully) shows that my brain is rewiring itself maybe?

I am still so tired. I have changed ny eating habits and am losing weight slowly. I did expect it to come off quicker considering I am not drinking 2 bottles of wine a day or eating maccy d's 3 times a week but hey ho at least ii's coming off!! I need to start doing some daily exercise too as I feel so lethargic at the min. Anyway enough talking more action required!!

Keep going Vipe you're doing great!! I love getting packages in the mail. In fact I had a delivery today too woo hoo!!!! Booze wants to take us all down but let's not let it win. I am totally done with it. A day at a time, I am done!

Hope everyone else is ok?

Sorry you had a stressful day Suze but you seem to be coping well. I still feel very fatigued at times, not as bad as I was but it does catch up on me, though I don't think this weather helps.
I'm the same with the weight too, I thought it would come off much quicker, but no, its all slow going with me.
Sleep well and I hope to see you here tomorrow. Xx

Hi Aprils
Just a quick one before bed. I've not had access to the laptop today so I'm posting from my phone which is a pain. I hope you're all happy, well and sober and have had the best Friday.
I got a kitten 🐱 today, a little grey one 8 wks old. So cute.
I'm off to bed now, soooo tired 😫

An early good morning to you all and a happy Saturday. I hope you're all as well as can be and sober of course. It's forecast rain all day here today, never thought I'd be so happy at the thought, hopefully we'll have a big storm to clear the air. My kitten is making itself at home, it was doing a bit of crying earlier, probably missing it's mum and siblings, but she's had a li*--*]7

bluesymusey 07-27-2018 10:04 PM

Happy Friday Aprils!

Welcome to over 100 day club Kgirl!! Awesome job!!

Daisy, you sound amazing and so happy about your new little kitty. Any way to post pics?? Love kitty energy 🐱

Strawberry, hope the fires are subsiding there. We have plenty popping up here too with the dry brush and high winds. Everyone’s on edge after what happened here last year.

Suze, sounds like you are picking up the tools and using them!! Well done! Sounds like your sponsor is giving you some sage advice. The desire to drink and picking up a drink are total different obviously. One is a thought and one an action. So if you tell yourself you just won’t act TODAY, the thoughts start to lose their power (at least in my case). I met a colleague for a drink today and he had scotch on the rocks and I had a cappuccino. The thought did cross my mind that I could have ONE beer or maybe a dollop of baileys in my coffee??!! I just laughed at the thoughts (they are tenacious!!) and left the bar feeling great. If I gave in, I would likely be in a blackout right now, hating myself tomorrow. Shame, remorse, blah blah...all the same sh*t!! And for what??? Maybe 2 hours of escape ? I don’t like the return on that investment. It’s a daily battle but over time the habit of abstaining will hopefully make these situations easier to breeze through :)

Happy birthday Dee!!! Thanks for being a rock here on SR!! We appreciate you! 🎂🎈🎉🙏🏼💕

Vipe and Donny - it just occurred to me that besides Dee, you’re the only 2 men in this class! Glad you can both relate to the car stuff, I’m clueless about that but I do know all about the expenses 😩

Quit, you should change your name to DETERMINED NOW! Haha! In my eyes, you are, 100%! Sobriety is not usually a straight projectory...it’s a wavy, messy, loopy, twisted & knotted path. Drinking again does not diminish the work you’ve done, not even a little. You’ve come back here right away, that’s determination and honesty at its finest. Certainly the qualities necessary for beating this monkey on our backs. 🐒. Keep one foot in front of the other. The days will add up again and you’re more the wiser now 🙏🏼

Good night to the rest of the gang too!! Chat more this weekend.

Sweetest dreams 💫

An early good morning to you all and a happy Saturday. I hope you're all as well as can be and sober of course. It's forecast rain all day here today, never thought I'd be so happy at the thought, hopefully we'll have a big storm to clear the air. My kitten is making itself at home, it was doing a bit of crying earlier, probably missing it's mum and siblings, but she's had a little feed and is now charging round after a fluffy ball. My g.son has named her Lulu.

Quit, I hope you're perusing S.R and I hope you come and post. Your user name Quitnow does not mean you can bail ship.

Vipes, how you feeling this morning? I hope you've been in lock down and are ready to take on day 11. I love that your dad is keeping a watchful eye on you. See, he does care, he's just got a funny way of showing it.
Cars, I can't do car talk, all I know is that they always need money spending on them and keep you poor.

I hope all is good with you today Strawberry, try not to work too hard.x

Yikes Donny boy, your van has cost you this time, it's got to be done though and it's better than going into debt for a new one.

Kelley, you're doing amazingly well, you should be so proud of yourself. :You_Rock_

Morning Bluesey, lovely to see you posting. I will definitely try and post a pic of my kitty cat over the weekend.
You did really, really well sticking to your cappuccino whilst your colleague had scotch. That's fortitude for you.
Love the advice you've given to Quit.
Enjoy your day and come and post again as soon as.

I'm going to get a shower now and I'll be back some time later. Have the best Saturday you can and don't pick up that 1st toxic drink.

Thought for the day......
If I quit now I will soon be back to where I started.
And when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.
