Good Morning Everyone. 24 more for me please. I will not drink today. Congratulations to the milestoners Well done! Stubbs - I feel your discouragement and can understand. Today is only my Day 2 after a few days relapse. I'm having a hard time shaking my discouragement and sadness too. You can do it! We're here for you. jojo honey ~ as always, we are in sync.....I am also very disappointed in myself and my efforts of late....very. And yes, it is a dangerous slippery slope....but you know what? We both need to read kenton's amazing post from the last thread again.....here it is....

Hi Stubbs, you sound like a very honest and self-aware person. Now you just need to take the next step and toughen up with your AV. Think of it as a stubborn toddler throwing a tantrum. You don't need to shout at it or lose your temper.... you just need to learn to say 'no'. Be consistent and strong and let your AV know that you mean it. Life will continue to throw challenges our way, regardless of whether or not we're drinking and we always have lots of choices of how to react. Keep things simple for yourself at this stage.... just tell yourself over and over again, 'I don't drink anymore'. Regardless of what life throws at you, you don't drink anymore. Just focus on this. Continued sobriety will give you the clarity to understand your reasons for drinking but don't think about that yet. For now, just get used to telling yourself that you don't drink anymore. Whatever happens. ... you won't be drinking. You're far stronger than your AV........ your honesty and self-awareness are powerful weapons against your AV. Use them to get back into control. Thank you Dee, checking in for another 24 of precious freedom please. Congratulations to you milestoners and My heartfelt thoughts go to everyone in pain and struggling with life and fighting off the AV at the same time. I'm right there with you. I have had a pretty low week. My Mum is struggling and not a thing I can do to make it better apart from of course the practicalities to keep her safe. My Auntie has only a matter of months & her pragmatic approach to her diagnosis puts me to shame. Today, I will accept the things I cannot change and get on with the things that I can. My favourite meeting of the week today, gentle butt kicking and coffee with my sponsor after. I cannot let my AV have me back, I know my AV promises me relief but forgets to remind me of the tenfold misery afterwards. Not getting me today, no way. Anyway, enough of the ramblings, just about to leave for my meeting. Much Love to you all my lovely,wonderful, caring 24'ers.
