I'm in |
I'm in for July, day two over here!! |
Welcome, July babies! Good luck to all. |
I'm in, day 1 here. I flunked out of June class with 25 days sober and then I blew it. |
Dropping in to say Hello to the Julys! I'm a June, and I can tell you that this thread is a great opportunity for advice and support. Good luck to all. |
I'm also in. Day one (again) here but feeling determined. |
Dropping in from the class of March 2016 (and July 2013 and May 2015) to wish everyone here a safe and sober end of June/start of July. I'm 110 days sober today and could not have done it without having my fellow Marchers as my foundation. Post here often--ask for help as soon as you need it, help others out here as much as you can even if it's only to say "hello" or "I'm listening", and remember you don't have to take that first drink today no matter what is going on in your life and/or head. I'll be following you Julyers closely and look forward to watching you grow in your recovery. This is a better way of life in every single way! |
I'm in. How do you shut up the voice inside your head? |
Not fueling that voice with alcohol is a good first step. It takes a little time but those thoughts will go away. I promise. This is a better way of life. In the meantime, keep yourself busy--hang out here on SR talking to others, get to a recovery meeting locally, take a long walk or do some other exercise, make sure you're not hungry or thirsty as those triggers are easy to miss. And always remember it's the first drink that's the problem. If you don't take the first one, you can't take the second or third or tenth one. Wishing you the best, Galaga11. |
I hope i can join here. I started at the end of June but i only have 3 days sober so i feel i belong here. I need all the help/advice i can get! Hello to you all. |
Since starting again and reading the boards, I've realized that I have got to make a firm plan and stick to it. I've got my trusty passion planner and I'm scheduling every moment that I'm not at work or sleeping. So I have a checklist. Some of the things in store for me this weekend: finish decluttering, wash the dog, clean my car, tweeze my brows...basically all the crap I never get around to doing on the weekends because I typically start drinking pretty early in the day. It sounds so boring when I type it out like that, but when I was planning, it all sounded very exciting, I swear. 🌻 |
Doesn't sound boring at all, Chickenlady. Living a normal "boring" sober life feels amazingly great to me today. |
Welcome to everyone :) Galaga the more you don't listen to what the voice tells you to do the less you'll hear it...it's going to bother you for a little while, but there's tons of support here :) these are a few links I really think everyone should know about: :) The Alcoholism and Addictions Help Forums- by SoberRecovery.com psst-wanna-know-why-im-always-recommending-recovery-plans.html http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html D |
I guess I better join in too. Today is day 1 for me. My normal routine lately has been to have 4 or 5 drinks at work starting around 11:30 or so, and then a few more when I get home...pre-drinking at work made it less suspicious to my family that I was actually drinking more than I let on. Right on cue at work today, I got the urge to drink. It was pretty strong for about 3 hours and then eased off. Surprisingly tonight it's not that bad. Fortunately I don't really have any physical symptoms that so many people get...just a slight headache. I know in the past when I've quite for a few days at a time, it was always about day 3 or 4 that the urge to drink was the strongest. |
Just wanted to pop in and welcome all members of the July class! Whether you are starting out or starting over glad you are here! I was a member of several classes in the past, and finally made it stick as a member of the January class. Read, post, and do whatever you need to stay sober, I promise it is worth it, and you can do this!!! ❤️ Delilah |
