Congratulations Trudging :)

DD I guess I'm a lot quieter and more reserved now - but I think that befits a 47 year old man.

I still have fun but I'm not obnoxious with it now lol

When I was drinking I was a 40 year old teenager. The thought of it still makes me wince.

I hope I am posting in the right spot....but wahoo! Made it to 90 days! Haven't had a drink since Oct.12. I didn't want to join the group til I felt confident I could make it-here now I am feeling great! Reading everyone's stories and advice from here has helped me tremendously, thank you!

Dee74 01-12-2014 06:52 PM

Congrats on 90 days dharmabound :)

Welcome dharmab! You have found the right spot. Congrats on 90; that's a huge accomplishment! Tell us a little about yourself.

DoubleDragons 01-13-2014 04:25 AM

Congrats, Bilr! 20 weeks sounds like a long time in my book!!

Welcome, Dharma and congratulations on 90 days!!!

Driver, any baby news yet???

Bilr44 01-13-2014 04:40 AM

Dharma,

Welcome to "home room " lol. Glad to have you hear and congrats on 90 days. I understand waiting to sign in here as I waited until I had 30 days sobriety before joining SR. I trolled but didn't sign up right away. I read one of your posts in another forum this weekend and hope everything is going well for you.

JL2013 01-13-2014 05:16 AM

Congrats Trudging, welcome Darma ! Thanks for the post Driver! Let us know baby news when you can.
I'll try to keep up. Got today off, then 2, 18hr days(nights ), 2-12 hrs nights, then off on Saturday morning. Not doing any chores or housework. Resting and building up hug time with kids, so the ouch of missing them will be less, I hope. Told my wife we need to schedule 5 minutes just to hug.

Welcome Dharma...great class to belong to! Way to go Billr...20 weeks sounds sooooo long ;) JL...sounds like a good plan! hmmmm....our dog did not return home last night. He was a stray from the streets of Costa Rica that we brought with us to our new house. He often leaves to stroll the beach/neighborhood (in fact we just found out that neighbors have given him different names...lol), but he always sleeps in the house at night....hope he did not get hit by a car :(

Poor pup, I hope that he comes back. We have a couple of stray cats that we feed every day. They are really cute, and want to come in the house, but not with the dogs in here.

Bilr44 01-13-2014 06:33 AM

Oh, and my avatar is a tribute to Driver today.

trudgingagain 01-13-2014 07:02 AM

YAY! Dog just came in the door:c011: No idea where he was last night...hmmm....great, new avatar, Billr!

DoubleDragons 01-13-2014 07:03 AM

Trudging I am sending good juju that your dog will come back. We had a cat growing up who disappeared for a couple months one time and then out of nowhere he just reappeared like nothing ever happened! You never realize how attached you are until they are gone. :(

DoubleDragons 01-13-2014 07:05 AM

Wow I knew my juju was good, but that good?!? ;)

trudgingagain 01-13-2014 07:07 AM

hahaha! juju across the miles!

Es juju the same as mojo? Glad your pup found his way home Trudging.

On another subject, how is everyone doing with Duolingo? I'm getting there with Spanish and never realized how good my vocabulary is. Even my sentence structure is better than I thought. I still need to develop my confidence to speak it with people. Maybe a goal for 2014? Not being on the sauce I should be able to accomplish a lot this year.

trudgingagain 01-13-2014 07:48 AM

I am still doing the Duolingo...took a placement test (instead of starting at the very beginning....) level 6 to start....but very basic stuff. I can understand what I read, but it takes a while...to figure it out....waaaayyyy too slow to try to speak...lol...

DoubleDragons 01-13-2014 07:49 AM

I consider juju to be excellent, clear, positive, happy energy. :)

I love Duolingo! Thanks Driver for telling us about it. My studies are slow and steady in Italian but I plan to stick with it. :)

Driver1 01-13-2014 12:00 PM

Bil, you rock!

The Pitocin is doing its job as is the epidural. LB is happy as clam at 6 cm. The real action may start in a few hours.

DoubleDragons 01-13-2014 12:19 PM

So exciting, Driver! :) :) :)

LittleSparrow 01-13-2014 12:33 PM

Trudging, I'm so happy your dog came back! Maybe he just needed some adventure, but it looks like he knows where to be--your house!

Driver, I'm sending you, your wife, and the babies all the good juju I can muster!

Dee74 01-13-2014 12:34 PM

Best wishes Driver :)

D

Bilr44 01-13-2014 01:49 PM

Driver, I'm wishing, your wife, the babies, and you the best. Enjoy it.

WhoDey 01-13-2014 02:54 PM

Take a nap, Driver. You'll need it!

Bilr44 01-13-2014 06:59 PM

I start my Spanish 3 classes tomorrow so I am looking forward to that. Probably something I wouldn't have been looking forward to while drinking. I've been practicing with Doulingo for the past week. It is fairly basic so far but good practice for verb tense, vocabulary, and sentence structure.

I had given some thought about taking a break from SR for a while. I honestly don't think about drinking and every time I read some of the forums it reminds me about drinking. But then a few times a day I read posts that bring it back into perspective. So many are struggling with early days of sobriety and it is a great reminder that I don't ever want to experience that again. This is my only means if support and you all are the only ones I have to talk to and vent about it.

fishoutawatta 01-13-2014 08:22 PM

Great to read all the good stuff that's going on here! Y'all rock! And, Driver, I'm so happy for you!

Rough waters for the Fish today. Can't really identify why, but grumpy all day, increasing in the evening. Guess we all have icky days. That's why it was good to read the posts here!

Appreciate y'all a LOT!

Fishy

trudgingagain 01-14-2014 03:18 AM

Really exciting, Driver!!! Thanks, LS...the dog stayed in all night last night ;) Billr...I don't really feel like drinking anymore either...and I am only using SR...but I agree with you in that it is easy to become somewhat complacent and "forget" how the early days felt....good to keep reading a bit on here each day....

DoubleDragons 01-14-2014 03:42 AM

We sure would miss you, Bilr. I don't feel the need to spend as much time as I used to spend on SR, but I think I will stay on at least for this year. I have a girls' weekend with college friends coming up in March that I think will be another big hurdle for me. Also, my parents came for a quick visit yesterday. They looked good, and my mom obviously was NOT drinking at all. I still find this whole alcoholism thing baffling. How can she keep it together so many times but then let it all fall apart?!? And then, if she does keep it together for any length of time, I start feeling like the drama queen again and I start questioning whether I am being extreme by quitting drinking all together . . . . .
