Am I first??? :D

PeanutButterCup 02-10-2012 02:12 PM

Wooo-hooooooooooooooooooooo! Gotta love top!

I started that painting finally ... the background is drying right now. It's about time ... there's been a huge blank canvas in the music room for weeks now.

Yay, Frances! I'm assuming you are now the proud owner of a new condo.

Dave, this illness is lasting entirely too long. Here's some virtual chicken soup. Drink your fluids, get some extra sleep, eat healthy food, and I hope you get better soon!

Very cool about that party, Mirage! Why did he cancel it? Are you getting snow? We're under a "winter weather advisory" -- we're supposed to get 1-3 inches. Seriously. 1-3 inches merits an advisory? I think we're getting pretty wussy here in Michigan!

Aussie, I hope all goes well with your party for your hubby. I like Mirage's froo froo drink ideas. At Thanksgiving I made a simple one with Diet 7-up and pomegranate Crystal Light ... just mix the powder right into a pitcher of the soda -- no water. You could add some sherbert and cherries and it would be a great punch. I think I told you guys this, but your post made me think of Jim's 40th. The girls and I spent the whole day working on it, and when he got home we sat him in a chair and presented him with 40 gifts. Some were normal gifts (like new rocks glasses, clothing, etc), some were little things (a package of his favorite candy, a new lighter for the grill, stuff like that), some were coupons (some of my favorites were coupons the kids made for "no-whine bedtimes".), and the final one was a song we wrote him and sang to him (and posted on fb). And dinner out. It was pretty cool.

aussieblue 02-10-2012 02:52 PM

I probably will be very busy at this party so it may keep my mind of the booze, half the town are invited plus visitors from out of town so I will be running around after people all night and trying to keep the cleaning up done as I go I have to work the next day .
Mirage I think it was about 7.30 here when I posted before, 6.30 is a bit early for the computer LOL.

Dee74 02-10-2012 03:01 PM

Hope you manage to have a good time too aussie :)

aussieblue 02-10-2012 03:04 PM

Well I will be catching up with some old friends and I am looking forward to that.

mirage 02-10-2012 04:08 PM

That's fun, pbc. I had a very cool 40th, too. Dh surprised me by having my bffs from college up north to my folks' cabin for the weekend. We hadn't all been together at the same time since then. They came from Utah, Los Angeles, Kentucky and Kalamazoo. :) I was SO happy. Good times.

Party was cancelled cuz people were running into scheduling problems and having to bail, so they're just gonna do it another time. Yes, we're still getting snow, but only supposed to get a small amount, too. We were just out to dinner and the roads weren't slick.

Oh, 7:30..well that's acceptable then. ;)

LOL ,do you think I have a problem.:hypnotize

PeanutButterCup 02-10-2012 05:26 PM

Aussie, your dog has cucumbers on his eyes. Do YOU think you have a problem? :rotfxko

(said totally jokingly)

PeanutButterCup 02-10-2012 05:43 PM

Oh, and btw, I now see the reason for the advisory. It isn't the snow that's the problem, it's that the roads are literally shiny with a layer of ice. Very slippery and dangerous.

mirage 02-10-2012 06:43 PM

Early bird gets the worm, aussie!

It's really blowing out there now, too, pbc. The wind is whippin. Stay indoors! :)

lookinforward 02-10-2012 07:37 PM

I am taking meds and hitting the sack. Kinda bummed....my son just got stood up at the theatre. Sat there for 45 minutes waiting on his "friends". Thank God I stayed with him. I do love that boy! He acts like he is not bummed out....But I know that I would be. Some kids just dont play nice. They probably got a big ha ha out of it. Little do they know that they are on MR. Daves list now. That aint were anyone wants to be.
good night ladies
Dave

PeanutButterCup 02-11-2012 05:10 AM

It was 4 degrees when I left the house this morning, people! 4 degrees! And that's not celcius!

But on a good note, I'm up to jogging a mile and a half now at the gym. :)

Dave, I'd be terrified to be on that list! **{shudder}}

I'm at the no-internet location today, so I won't be chatting much. Have a fabulous one!

frances2011 02-11-2012 07:43 AM

Closing went great and the new place is amazing! We sold our 1-bedroom condo to husbands brother, so it stays in the family. And we can take our time moving downstairs to our new 2-bedroom ground floor apartment.

It's amazing. We've been frugal and this is the payoff. I'm grateful for good luck and health.

Maine is beautiful and rocky and forested and a little bit wild, untamed. The ocean is clear and cold and clean.

mirage 02-11-2012 09:01 AM

Congrats, frances!

Have a good day, pbc!

Aw, sorry the boy got stood up. Stupid kids. Note to self: stay off Dave's sh*t list.

Yes, it's freeeeeezing today. Apparently, we're now having dinner with my brother and sil tonight and then they're coming over after. I guess that's cool. I'd rather see a movie after dinner but dh doesn't feel like it, so we'll come back here and have a fire. And talk. haha. Dh just took the boys swimming. Yesterday, I thought I might go with, but I just can't get excited about swimming when it's this cold. I shaved my legs and everything. lol

RosieTheRiveter 02-11-2012 09:18 AM

Dee, they were HAPPY tears, the good kind! Maybe it's a girl thing? I am happy for you, enjoying an old love again! :bbj:

Lofty, not sure you'll see this, but I hope my posts didn't lead to you needing a break. Please take good care of yourself, you are in my prayers.

PBC, your Valentine's Day traditions sounds lovely, as does your new red dress. I hope you'll post a pic, even briefly! (as they say in another forum I belong to: POIDE picture or it doesn't exist! lol) Loved the "librarian" one. And thank you for your kind words. :Flower:

Dave, hope you are feeling better. So glad you waited with your boy, is this something you'd have done when drinking? Being there when they need you, one of the best reasons to get sober!

Frances, so happy your sale and purchase went through, so excited for you! How wonderful that you will have room for family and friends to join you sometimes. I grew up within driving distance of Maine, what a truly beautiful state. Drive now is probably about what yours is, maybe a tad shorter. NOT hinting, I promise!

Mirage, your 40th sounds like a wonderful celebration, how cool of your DH to arrange that for you!

Aussie, prayers for you as you get through your DH's party. Also for the lifting of your depression. :abcd: You know I spend a lot of time there, no fun at all.

Prof, haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well in your world!

Hey, guys! Germanos is posting a lot in the February group. He is doing really well, helping others, I am SO thrilled for him. Seems like he is ready to go the distance! Keeping him, and all of you, in my prayers. :c016:

I am doing OK. My depression lifted a bit, but my TOM has caused increased pain, and my remedies all have sugar in them. MUST make an appt with the Rheumatologist to get some meds for times like this. I really don't want to be on any meds, but homeopathics and supplements just can't cover it all. Headaches have been trending up and lasting days longer, briefer breaks between, so must also find a Lyme specialist, one who knows neurological Lyme (or Babesia, Bartonella, Mycoplasma - Bartonella might be causing the headaches). Also need a muscle relaxant for the occasions I can tell it is my back and shoulders seizing up that is causing the headaches (get different kinds, can tell the difference). Anyway, sorry for all the complaining, this will pass. I just have to get past my reluctance to go to the doctor(s) and take care of business. I just let time float by, not ok. I know so many have it so much worse, sorry for the pity party!

DH will be away next week, leaves tomorrow morning, first time I'll have the place to myself in a couple of months. Really need the time and looking forward to the quiet. Course, the cats then need all their lovins from me, so they get kinda pushy, wake me up even more often if that is what it takes. They make sure to get their needs met, guess I could take a lesson from them!

Three weeks 'til my boy comes home for Spring Break!!! College has been fantastic for him, but I miss him. So proud of him, he is pushing through and doing well, and has some great friends as well, he is in a good place :e094:

Rosie
this forum has the best collection of smilies I have ever seen! wow! Wish I always had access to them, and could use more!

RosieTheRiveter 02-11-2012 10:24 AM

I knew that looked funny above, but too late to edit:

POIDH - picture or it didn't happen

also, PBC, your traditions SOUND lovely, hate when I miss things like that

Rosie

RosieTheRiveter 02-11-2012 12:28 PM

Rosie

aussieblue 02-11-2012 12:40 PM

PBC 4 degrees :scared: I have never been that cold our winter gets as low as zero Celcius .but that is an extremely cold night . I have never seen snow and would love to its top of my bucket list.

Dave sorry about your son, kids really can be cruel.

Frances I am soooooooo haaaaaapppppppyyyyy for you.:c031:

Rosie I feel for you with those headaches I get them too but I think mine are stress related. Enjoy your time alone, aint nuthin like some me time.

Hi Dee.

sure is quiet without Lofty!

PeanutButterCup 02-11-2012 03:08 PM

Well, I finished the song for my girls, but I can't seem to get through it without crying. Razzle frazzle. Every line has special meaning to our family ... I hope they get it. And I hope I can sing it.
