Hey everybody! I told you I would make it. What is all this humble stuff? Me humble? I am so proud to be here with you guys. Today is my 1st Birthday. So here is my introductory bow Wait for it . . . . Wait for it . . . . Wait for it . . . . Wait for it . . . . http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/pa...smiley-038.gif |

Welcome and Congrats Itchy!!! Glad to have you here...... |
Cake!!!?!!! Now yer talkin' :) Never been so happy to have an Itch - welcome aboard :) |
Thanks! Here is a real intro. Actually it is a bit intimidating to be in the group of folks that helped me get here. You guys were my peers and my mentors. Some have become dear online friends. Others I held in awe. Only recently have I realized that some do the same with me just because I cared enough for me and my family to quit like them but had more time, and that can be uncomfortable when I am recovering just like they are. I kept my distance with most, reached out to a few, and found that some were very uncomfortable with anything but that distance. And it is all good. When Dee and RZ/HFA/Least et al were discussing a one year and over group, and the fact that is has never been done, as most leave and don't make time to participate anymore, I am grateful for those of you who did and do. I remember someone saying that a group like that will show that it can be done, that some "alcoholics," "addicts," or if that offends "whatever-ya-call-its," just like them made it. :c029: I think it does and will participate albeit later much less. I am retired but still young (I retired my first time at 45 and took off RVing full time for 7 years with my SH.) I have the education and credentials to pass the test required for certification as a counselor in my state in alcohol and substance abuse counseling. I also have the application package for the local VA HR department and will make my manners to the folks there first and go on the waiting list while I do the certification requirements. I think I bring a lot to that table. Especially when I found they were shocked at how much I drank. It appears that the field could use more experience in it. Anyway that is my hope. I will pass along what happens but that will be at least another year in the future. Right now I need to get the weight off I gained from quitting smokin at the same time and using sweets as a sub. It seems I still need an adult "Binkie!" But alcohol and smoking aren't on the rotations list anymore. So I still have a lot of work to do still. I am grateful for the wonderful people who took the time to lend me a hand along the way. Including but not limited to the members of this group. Ok deal me in. What's the ante? |
Thanks LF, I think we all are awesome too. 1 Year and a lifetime to go. Dee, You're like a bad penny, you always turn up, and needing a shave when you do! (Thank goodness) Least, I believe you are the hostess who cleaned out this room and made it liveable? Nice job and the new room you picked is even nicer, I guess we are on the way up. Where are the . . . never mind I see the kennels now. I'll introduce my furkids to your's later. They love to meet cousins from other packs. They are a handsome boy and a pretty girl who are not related but are loving packmates now. Pics in my profile in the album. RZ, There is an itch aboard, but I will never be scratched (Gawd willin an the crick doan rise) Thank you Kablume, nice to meetcha too! Murray? Good to see ya again too in this room. I see your priority is cake, I snitched a piece on the way in, (don't tell RZ!) but there was plenty left. Sure was purdy. Drinks are on me to go with the cake! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/er...smiley-008.gif |
Congratulations Itchy and Welcome! :c011: |
Thanks Lyddie! Great to see you again from inside the room! :grouphug: |
1 Attachment(s) MMMM Cake!! Well I feel dumb. Have been looking for this thread for two days! Welcome jmf, fallenman, mcribb, todd, carrie, kimber, sobar and itchy!! Feels good to be sharing in your miracle. Prayers to you guys and especially for those still suffering. |
i saw that itchy, and wipe the frosting off your face! good wishes on the counselor bit |
Itchy, I would be willing to bet that you would make an excellent counselor. Good luck on your journey! |
RZ I didn't do it! This isn't frosting it is frothing, yeah that's the ticket! I was drinking an espresso with frothy whipped cream on top. Thanks both of ya Rusty and Kablume. I haven't been a counselor since 1986 but that was at a well health university clinic where we referred out all chemical and alcohol long term recovery problems. I am checking into if I can get a bypass. |
Itchy! I think it is beyond awesome that you want to be a counselor...you would be awesome. Have another slice of cake...I'm having seconds too! |
itchy, it wasnt' yours, and you only had a few too huh? lol |
LOL the good thing about Rusty's virtual cakes is there's plenty for everyone :) :yumyum: D |
LF Danke! I am serious but you know how the best laid plans of mice and men go. I am 59 and we'll see. Consider that I need to do something for no other reason than to get out more. Yo do meet some of the nicest people in counseling. I know I was on both sides of the table! :a213: |
Honest occifer . . .ummm errr Rusty . . .ummm errrr I never have more than two and the espresso was mine, oK there was one piece of cake in the espresso! Hey! Wait a minnit! I am the ex cop and military guy here! Rusty, would you please produce your license to serve food to the pubic, and your health dept food card? :tapping Ohh I see, you don't have one let alone the other? Hmm being new here but knowing your background and record I am inclined to let you off with just a warning. Umm Rusty, you can take your hands off the table and stop spreading your feet, sheesh! I never even ordered that. You a bit jumpy there son, ya need to calm down! And yes, thank you I do think I will have another piece of that cake, and so nice of you to bring it. Here have a pepsi! I would have brought Coke but that can so be misconstrued here dontcha' think? :lmao: |
Dee I posted that the forums are weird and slow several weeks ago and Anna said that it would go to the IT guys/gals. I posted thanks several times here in this topic/thread yesterday and had to go back and post them again when they would disappear after I came back, and today the one for LF above was gone again and I posted it again. I know the glitch with refreshing but that is not the issue. I sure wish they would get it back to the snappy website it used to be. Could ya pass the word as it were? Hey! You were right! That cake is never ending as is the coffee pot. The service wasn't bad either. :scoregood |
Congrats Itchy! I haven't been around much, but I hit a year on 9-10. Congrats to all & keep it going. |
Thanks and Congrats to you too SquareHead! Long time no see! A belated :day2 http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/li...-linie-017.gif :day :day |
Welcome SquareHead :) Itchy - the owners deal with the technical problems - they certainly know about them, and they update us frequently, so they're working on them.... That's about as much as I know :dunno: It's frustrating I know, but hopefully we'll sort it soon :) When the problems occur, I think back to the days when there was no 'net...I think even with a glitch or two we're better off :) ...or I just pretend I'm on dial up LOL D |
