Who said it did?

Simple question. Here to compalin or recover...big difference between the two.

Part of recovery is to complain, vent, rage,,whatever. The important part is to be willing.

You got willingness?

FOB, I couldnt agree more with your question. I do my share of complaining yes. But, I sometimes get a little frustrated that there are not more posts including eduational tools, deeper thought invoking threads, step work etc. I for example have the Al Anon 12 steps, but always feel like I want to discuss it with others and get their view on it. Sure I could go to a meeting and do it, but I like the people here and value their opinion more. Maybe I need a sponsor for that, who knows.

My point is there should be both, complaining and growth. Who wants to sit around a complain while doing nothing about it? I dont and if I did that would just make it more clear that I needed some help

Cazza 10-04-2005 08:56 AM

I am definitely willing to recover.

I'm here becasue it's a forum w/out real structure, or rules of engagement, or strick protocols for interacting. It's how real people interact... really. It's facinating. For instance...

Has anyone else noticed minnie and equis start and off topic intereaction with each other on a great percentage of threads? Sheesh you two-- get a room!

LOL.. sorry FOB, couldn't resist the temptation...

minni and equis.. just kidding

equus 10-04-2005 09:38 AM

Us Brits do seem to have the ability to be 'off the wall' at times. 'Some' more than others:wink3:

Why am I here at SR?......... because I wanted to share; sharing a load makes it easier to carry.

pmaslan 10-04-2005 11:41 AM

I came.... as a mass of confusion....returned..... to find compassion and understanding...stayed.....because I need the newbies to stay in my recovery..and hopefully through all that I have seen and been through can offer support to those still in pain and despair.....I respect the rights of everyone that posts here and am grateful that I have a place to call "Recovery"...just my reasons for being here....

Jazzman 10-04-2005 12:27 PM

I came to get some answers and offer my story, listen to friends and TRY to keep my mouth, (fingers) shut if I know NOT what I speak of. I'd like to think that some times I offer acceptable advice, and comic relief from time to time... This subject is so serious, some times you need to take a step back

Complaining is certainly easier, and allows for dodging responsibility.

Yup...brilliantly said.

minnie 10-04-2005 02:53 PM

FoB - was this thread a complaint? :tongue1:

Gooch 10-04-2005 05:40 PM

defrag my mind... lol .. there are times I'm glad no one can usb port into my mind and browse my files... some seem to have a virus.

Dan .. you stated the syndrome I see brilliantly ... there are so many families that cannot seem to heal together.. And I think in large it's because there is a delay in the denial mechanism that cannot be accelerated until the most symptomatic component (the addict) is removed from the mechanism.

Does that make sense? sort of like having to remove the carbureotor and either devise an alternate fuel delivery mechanism or replace the carbureater completely before you can discover the fuel pump was faulty as well.

Oh jeepers .. this sounds so male oriented.. I need a cookie recipe analogy.

yep, gooch, it was making sense for me right up to the carbueotor. carburtoator..carbyouuateher. whatever.
but thanks. your bit in this thread was a lightbulb moment for me! as a codie i really needed to remove the faulty component (the alcoholic) to see if the rest of my engine was working properly. cause the alcoholic most definitely did not want me to see how it really was (a slow, dreadful leak)- and although it is a slow road to self actualization, it is definitely worth it for me. I pray that he finds his way, but I must continue on my own path with my sanity and serenity intact. this may be the reason i come to this site, to find the wisdom and to share my experiences as well.

Kind of like seperating the whites from the eggs, beating the whites into stiff peaks and then re-incorporating them into the dough mixture.
Are you happy now Gooch?
That cookie baking thing really wrecks my stiletto wearin' Tart image.

minnie 10-05-2005 12:33 AM

Gabe, the two aren't mutually exclusive and don't let anyone try and tell you otherwise.

Dan 10-05-2005 04:12 AM

Now, if you throw a greasy carburator in the egg whites by mistake, does the five second rule apply?
