ROBBY'S THREAD I
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ys-thread.html

I'm as always in deep appreciation of how fulfilling and meaningful these threads have come to be for so many of us. And so now we continue our awesome, sometimes exhausting, sometimes painful, sometimes revolutionary... ... and always enlightening... ... sometimes healing, and sometimes just lovingly overwhelmingly happy and satisfied too!!

:scoregood :thanks

I got it !

Good evening, Rob, & thanks for starting a new thread.

Does anyone here know how to play cribbage?

RobbyRobot 07-12-2015 08:56 PM

I know how badly. Haven't played in over 30 years!

courage2 07-12-2015 09:00 PM

Me neither. Another one of those father things -- he taught me how to play more than 30 years ago -- he always won, no matter how much he was drinking -- and when he died I took his cribbage board. My former sponsor & I are going to play on Thursday, but she doesn't remember the rules either. :)

Anyone here who can give me cribbage tips between now & Thursday so I can win, please tell. She's fiercely competitive! :lmao:

Verte 07-12-2015 09:30 PM

courage - I do not have any cribbage tips as I do not play. But your story reminds me of my father's attempt to teach me the rules of gin rummy during a transatlantic flight together. This was at a time when there was still a smoking section on airplanes, demarcated by air alone. So just behind us was a cacophony of little old ladies in track suits chattering, giggling and smoking like stovepipes. I could not concentrate and my father could not dumb down the rules of rummy enough for us to actually play. So there was silence between us while I envisioned myself hopping back a row and bumming a smoke from Esther. ;)

Good evening (((Robby and Melissa))). :) and friends. :grouphug:

(((Aellyce))). Glad you are here.

I've missed so much as I have been on the road but am catching up and happy to be here with you all.

Dear Jeni, I feel your pain acutely and am praying that the ache in your heart eases somewhat. There is so much more to write and say. Take care.

I've played a lot of hands of gin, most of them with a glass of gin at hand. I know the strategies & I win some rounds, but 1) I'll hold out for gin rather than knock, 2) I get distracted by improbable possibilities, and most important, 3) I don't count cards. I've played gin with a couple of really good alcoholic card-players.

g'nite, folks --

Carlotta 07-12-2015 10:40 PM

I used to be a Gin Rummy shark in my younger days, always played sober. There was never anything social about my drinking LOL. I m not so sure how good I would be at counting cards these days, as I get older I am getting C.R.S.

I thought I'd drop by and say hi to everyone and give Robby and Melissa a

I used to play cribbage with my dad when I was little, too. I remember it as being lots of fun. I thought the little pegs were cool, and I liked how you could store them inside the board itself!

I probably haven't played in 40 years, but it's something I'd definitely like to revisit!

Hope somebody comes through with some tips!

Good morning and good evening guys and gals. Melissa and I are traveling today down to Boston. We'll be out of internet for a day or two as the wi-fi is down in Boston home just letting folks know why we're not posting. Our phones work but I hate posting from my phone although I do read from it.

Can't wait to see Melissa's new home, also near Boston, on Wednesday! Awesome times with this visit. Mostly business but we do have some play time planned too!

I'm satisfied I can make the 8 hr 550 mile drive. We've done it dozens of time before now, lol. I feel stoked up for the trip. If I tire than Melissa can drive of course no worries. Looking forward to getting out there and doin' it. :)

Good to see the new thread up. Melissa and I will take a backgammon set with us. Like cribbage, it something we haven't played in years.

Hi Carlotta, Verte, Courage, Gilmer, D, happybeingme, alpha.
And big hugs to all the rest of the gang too who haven't posted as yet. Have a grand and satisfying day all y'all!!

I hope you have a safe trip. I went to college in Boston, I used to live on Beacon Hill (the artsy side not the wealthy side LOL) and one of my favorite places is Faneuil Hall. That's the place to go to grab some lobsters on the go ;)
