Sounds to me as if you've made a very wise decision. You're absolutely right that remaining calm even though he'll probably go ballistic is the wise thing to do. He may escalate the situation out of desperation. I'd suggest you have a cell phone in your hand (or tucked in a pocket where he can't see it) and a way to lock yourself in a room if you need to call 911 in order to call the police to throw him out. Just be prepared to expect the unexpected. You never know what you'll get with an addict.
