^ It took me six years to learn German and that was having one-to-one lessons, living in Germany and working in an office with only Germans who obviously spoke German.
I think for me to learn a language like French whilst living in the UK would take me around 400 years!
And I thought I was proud of myself for learning German, but I went back for a week last year, and unusually many Germans responded to me in English! That never happened when I lived there. I’ve lost a lot of what I learned!
