I used to drink to make the intolerable tolerable.
I used to think I didn’t matter so drinking didn’t matter either.
I think regardless of how old we are or what our state of health is, or what our relationships with others are like, we matter - and knowing we matter puts a different light on everything, including the decision to relapse.
I’ve been a drinker, and I’ve been in recovery and there’s just no contest for me. It’s like black and white versus technicolor.
