I was married 15 years and my husband drank for 2. We have been physically separated for 8 months but on my end emotionally separated much longer because of the drinking. I kept giving ultimatums but finally had to follow through when it became dangerous. You don't fully have to do the divorce thing but a trial separation might be an idea. If I can do it with little kids, you can surely do it. Good luck, hope some of this helps.
