Hi, RAL! I, too, love the airport! I love people-watching, eating holiday-sanctioned junk, and sitting quietly with my novel in a crowded room (one of my childhood daydreams was to be able to read at parties, so this is satisfying on a level that’s hard to describe)!
It would hurt my feelings if my partner changed his mind about going with me on vacation. I have to remind myself that it’s probably not about me, at all. My ex (who suffered terribly from alcoholism) had trouble following through with such plans, and I, mistakenly, took it personally. I still have some worthiness struggles when I think about the topic. Still, as I’m sure you know, you are not in charge of anyone else’s mind, feelings, or decisions. His challenges are his own, and they do not reflect your value.
I’m glad to hear that you will still take the trip with your son. It sounds like a lovely time, and you deserve some loveliness!
