I agree, the old me would have scoffed at such an idea. I would have both wanted to take part and yet been angry that I knew I couldn't. It's funny how easy it is once you take the blinders off. For me this is another way of saying it was about recognizing that the AV was feeding me lies: you can never do this, therefore, there isn't any point in trying. But those are lies. A similar one is the old AV tale about weddings. "You can never enjoy a wedding sober, therefore you may as well keep on drinking forever, because someday someone will invite you to a wedding and you'll have to drink." Stupid lies that enable the addictive behavior. To all who will enjoy an alcohol-free January this year: I salute you, and let's support each other!
