Well I heard some bit of good news this evening. My friend who I was talking about earlier in the thread has stopped drinking now and will be looking to enroll in a day patient treatment programme (whenever things open again) but can talk to a counselor on the phone in the meantime.
His wife and kids have moved back in for the time being. I actually got the impression off him now that he wants it for himself (I lost count of how many times I told him this when he was drunk) The whole situation was a valuable experience in when to help and when to withdraw to a safe distance for the person to see the light themselves.
