Detaching from my addict/alcoholic daughter was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. She is homeless. Living in her car. When it is cold at night, I think of her but this was her choice. She did not want to get sober and without that, she could no longer stay in my home. The calls asking for money have slowed down and I do not offer her food or assistance any more at all. It is so hard because you cannot stop loving your kids but you do have to take care of yourself first! I hope one day she finds her rock bottom and rises to the top like I believe she can. Until then, I will just pray for her safety and carry on with the things I can control.
