Twice I decided I was going to completely quit on my own and both times I lasted only about 14 days. Both times I decided things weren't so bad and I'd just go back to doing some more moderate drinking (no success). It wasn't until I reached out for help (outpatient treatment/AA) that I was able to make sobriety stick.
