Going for a drive is good. Maybe get a coffee or something and sit outside and read a book for a bit while you’re out.

I think a lot of my drinking was just habit. Once I made new habits to replace the drinking I could stop. TBH, I started smoking properly again when I got sober four months ago. I did notice I was smoking like I drank: alone, heavily and late at night! I was able to stop smoking fairly easily about six weeks ago though. Please don’t think I’m recommending smoking, but I just wanted you to know what happened with me. I’ve now developed a few decent healthy habits (including posting to SR) and the urge to drink is really beginning to fade.

Obviously there’s lots of other deeper stuff and I’ve found the therapy has been really helpful for that. I started the therapy the week I quit drinking.
