Dan .. you stated the syndrome I see brilliantly ... there are so many families that cannot seem to heal together.. And I think in large it's because there is a delay in the denial mechanism that cannot be accelerated until the most symptomatic component (the addict) is removed from the mechanism.
Does that make sense? sort of like having to remove the carbureotor and either devise an alternate fuel delivery mechanism or replace the carbureater completely before you can discover the fuel pump was faulty as well.
