I'm no expert, but I think it is common to crave sugar after abstaining from alcohol. I never really had a sweet tooth until I quit drinking for a while but I would try to satisfy it with sugar free jello, or sugarless gum. I didn't keep sweets in the house.
The amino acid L-Glutamine is an effective supplement for sugar/alcohol cravings. It isn't a silver bullet solution, but can help.
