The thing with alcohol is we never sleep so much as pass out..
remember waking with a jolt at 3.30am...? used to happen to me all the time.
I'm not sure when your last drink was, but insomnia is one of the hallmarks of withdrawal, for a while anyway...just gotta get through it.
