I know a chap who a counsellor told was drinking because of his wife. He got rid of the wife. He is still drinking. His wife was not the cause. Alcoholism was the problem, and recovery from that is not dependent on other people. We can get well regardless of anyone. Our recovery is not dependent on what other people say or do, it is dependant on how much effort, what lengths we are willing to go to to get sober.
