I think you'll deal with the situation in Finland far better sober, and I think you'll do better checking into SR every day.
The AV is not about using anything , even a loved one's bad health, to get us to drink.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but I REALLY believe it: the bottom line is you're not the one who's sick Sydneyman - be there for your mum, and be there sober.
You'll be glad afterwards.
