Yeh, you were very nearly a statistic. I don't know the figures for the US, but in the UK we have around 50,000 alcohol related deaths per annum. It's like a major terrorist attack every week, in that sense. Now that you have had a major withdrawal and hurt your heart and cellular structure, the next binge has a much higher chance of resulting in your death. It is almost almost certain you will die of alcohol if you drink again. So what to do?
Well, you have a job, a business, a family, and pets that you love. Statistically you have every chance of survival. I would start to be the best son, business partner and family member possible. Join AA, visit and post in SR every day, read about AVRT, get fit, exercise, eat well, meditate, do yoga, brazillian Jiu Jitsu, walk the dog in the beautiful environment, help people, be kind, to yourself and others. Save your life.
Buy yourself nice things with the money you save. Eat the best fruit, advocados, fish, lean meat, fresh vegetables, buy a juicer, more exercise, join a club, do something you always dreamed of doing, after all, you have been given a second chance at life, drink will kill you, so go parachuting instead, white water rafting, rock climbing, shooting, hunting, get out there! Live! Work harder in the business, no need to apologise, you will learn it was not you fault, but sober you can demonstrate through actions, through health and fitness, through kindness, that you have changed. And one day, you can help someone who has the problem you used to have with understanding and compassion. You can do it!
