I've been struggling with Step 3 as well. God & I have been friends for quite awhile. Very informal. I've never asked Him for anything. Never been angry with Him. Now I'm supposed to relinquish myself to Him?
My newbie perception is shaping up like this: I do God's will. Be a good person. Treat everyone I come in contact with the way God would want (will) me to treat them. Accept life for what it is, not as I would have it. Trust him that everything has a purpose.
I figure if I do this, my free will is His will. Win/win.
Sounds good anyways. Time will tell.
