Weekenderrrrrs!

Over 6 months ago, I dreaded weekends. They were so tough and repeatedly ended with me feeling guilty and regretful on Sunday evenings...Bleh. Now, I look forward to them and the opportunity to recharge. It DOES get easier.
To get through the first few, I kept a sober toolkit (backpack) in the trunk of my car. It had books/magazines,, chocolate, seltzer, earbuds, walking shoes, sunscreen,...anything I could think of that I could lean on for a replacement escape from cravings. I walked a LOT and allowed myself (a notorious people pleaser) the freedom to tell others that I was busy and needed to move along when cravings got strong. There were a few white lies thrown out about my availability, but no harm done. I Had to remind myself that it's not only OK, but necessary, to put my well-being first for once.
Newly sober friends, You got this. Spoil yourself this weekend. Stay close. This is an awesome group to spend the weekend with. Again, it does get easier. ***pinky promise***
