Also understand that "functioning" is a stage of alcoholism, the disease is progressive and everything you dislike now will only get worse. My ex was a binge drinker with a monthly cycle, until his disease progressed. Alanon has helped me a lot. Keep going to meetings and be sure to check out the stickies at the top of the page. [
