I believe that infatuation is as powerful as drugs and alcohol. It seems to have the same effect on me as alcohol and drugs do to alcoholics. It makes me feel great for a while, but I depend on it to be ok. When I don't have it, I'm not ok. Recovery, working the steps, finding a higher power, and learning to be whole have given me the recovery from my "addiction." I believe it works the same for all addictions.
