Your right. Using Spiritual Principles to just get "dry" is like using a Peterbilt Semi-truck to deliver a single pizza. It gets the job done but is a HUGE waste of resources. Sobriety is merely a byproduct of the the real purpose of living a life based on Spiritual Principles. Spirituality is more like an "End of Suffering" program. When I live a Principle driven life, thoughts of drinking never enter my mind in the first place.
I don't need to choose not-drinking one-arduous-day-at-a-time like I did the first dozen or so times I tried to keep myself sober. That required pushing a bolder uphill endlessly, like the Myth of Sisyphus. Technically, I don't need to "choose" anything at all because there is no two choices to start with. Sobriety is simply part of the "Spirituality Equipment Package".
