Dollpart - the only requirement for AA is the desire to stop drinking. There is no one size fits all. For me, I was truly unhappy. Suicidal actually. If you want to rid yourself of the obsession to drink and are open to change and willing to do whatever it takes then AA has worked for many - you have nothing to loose.
