What I've been doing that has been working for me is that each time I have a thought come to my mind, I visualize myself putting it on a shelf (like my thoughts are books) and it seriously makes the thought leave my mind. Sometimes I have to put many thoughts on the shelf before my mind is clear and sometimes I only do it a few times.
