Why a male sponsor? In many meetings I attend, there are people who will serve as a temporary sponsor to guide you into the program and help you find a sponsor to work the steps.
I'm a guy. My first step work was with a woman, and I am eternally grateful for her.
It is but a suggestion that men stick with men, women with women. But I was just curious why you think you must have a male sponsor.
I suggest the temporary sponsor because when I first walked into the rooms I was helpless and I had several people that ended up sponsoring me and I didn't realize it. They helped me get to meetings, took me to coffee after the meeting, and just served in showing me what the fellowship was about.
