Sponsor
I know this isn't recommend but I'm looking for a male sponsor. I'm a 32 year old female alcoholic and I really need help. I'm seriously committed to my recovery and have no other interest in anything other than working through the steps. Can anyone help me?

Why a male sponsor? In many meetings I attend, there are people who will serve as a temporary sponsor to guide you into the program and help you find a sponsor to work the steps.
I'm a guy. My first step work was with a woman, and I am eternally grateful for her.
It is but a suggestion that men stick with men, women with women. But I was just curious why you think you must have a male sponsor.
I suggest the temporary sponsor because when I first walked into the rooms I was helpless and I had several people that ended up sponsoring me and I didn't realize it. They helped me get to meetings, took me to coffee after the meeting, and just served in showing me what the fellowship was about.

If you start any facet of this program thinking *you* know best, you are not starting off on the right foot.
I would strongly encourage you to seek the RIGHT sponsor with disregard to sex and any other things you feel should be "important" to you.
I have two sponsors... one happens to be male and the other is female, but they showed up in my life when I needed them for who they were and how they could help.

Hi. If you go to step meetings I'd expect some female you identify with or has what you want is in attendance. In my area there are closed woman step meetings. If none in your area you might consider starting one as a meeting is a couple alcoholics getting together and usually something like this will grow.
BE WELL
BE WELL
I happen to have a male sponsor, but I didn't look specifically for one...I had had 3 female sponsors, but things hadn't worked out....I then asked an old timer for some help and received it.
I am open to finding a female sponsor, but she hasn't shown up just yet. I have a network of women I do talk to, but I work with my sponsor on spirituality.....

I sought the right sponsor, by asking HIM to guide me.
The right choice was a woman. She was tougher than most of the men in my group.
i needed someone to be accountable too in the beginning.
Yes once i was able to dump all my past issues with her and not be nervous around her spilling some of my "male issues" my world changed.
I am not uncomfortable telling her anything.
