JWC, you are not hopeless and I don't believe anyone is hopeless.
You remind me of myself when I would sabotage my progress. I would start to feel good about myself and my life and then I would find myself buying alcohol. Why? Because feeling good was uncomfortable for me. I didn't feel I deserved it. I had to begin by convincing myself that I deserved a good life.
