Sorry, but there is nothing in her comments that makes me think she's smart. She doesn't seem to know anything about her disease, and doesn't seem willing to learn. Why is it becoming a medical problem now? Because it is a Progressive disease, it will get worse over time. Can quit without help...done it a million times before? Doesn't sound like much of a successful track record. AA is for those who are willing to leave their hats at the door and focus on a healthy future...I think that makes those attending more "educated" since they are willing to learn.
I would ask what is YOUR bottom? Are you happy with an egocentric person who is in denial, and therefore will not seek help for a progressive fatal disease? She may never hit a bottom, she may just continue on in her own little fairy tale world until the disease takes her. You can't save her, but you can save what 's left of your life.
