It always amazes me how the media always portrays heavy drinking as something to smile at and even be proud of, nudge nudge, wink wink. This list and others I've seen - Best Party Schools, Best Bar Scenes, etc. - just go to show how misguided people are about the destructive power of alcohol. Can you imagine if similar lists were made about other, equally dangerous drugs that aren't as socially accepted? "Best City For Meth"; "Best Cities to Shoot Up In"? That would help put things in perspective, no?
It sure would. It makes me nuts how alcohol use is so promoted and encouraged and yet causes more death and destruction than all other drugs combined.
Some areas do get reputations for other drugs, though--London, Miami and L.A. for cocaine, Vancouver BC for heroin, Medford OR aka Methford and so on.
