Hung Over Cities - top 25

CINCINNATI - New Year's Eve is a time for friends, fireworks and family. For many in Ohio, it also seems to be a time for bubbly. Lots of bubbly.
Business Insider looked at the Center for Disease Control's recent statistics on binge drinking and Trulia's list of cities with the most bars per capita. They then gave each city a score based on those two numbers.
Ohio leads all states with five cities ranked in the top 25.
Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, Akron and our very own Cincinnati made the cut for cities with the “biggest hangovers.”
Business Insider found the Midwest represented many of the ranked cities.
The list of The 25 Most Hungover Cities In America include:
25. Denver, Colo.
24. Portland, Oreg.
23. El Pasp, Texas
22. Philadelphia, Pa.
21. Chicago
20. San Francisco, Calif.
19. Austin, Texas
18. Columbus, Ohio
17. Boston, Mass.
16. Cincinnati
15. San Antonia, Texas
14. St. Louis, Mo.
13. Providence, R.I.
12. Honolulu, Hawaii
11. Cleveland
10. Las Vegas, Nev.
9. Springfield, Mas.
8. Worcester, Mas.
7. Toledo, Ohio
6. Akron, Ohio
5. Buffalo, N.Y.
4. Pittsburgh, Pa.
3. New Orleans
2. Milwaukee, Wis.
1. Omaha, Neb.

Mine is # 16 This article also mentions the following:

It always amazes me how the media always portrays heavy drinking as something to smile at and even be proud of, nudge nudge, wink wink. This list and others I've seen - Best Party Schools, Best Bar Scenes, etc. - just go to show how misguided people are about the destructive power of alcohol. Can you imagine if similar lists were made about other, equally dangerous drugs that aren't as socially accepted? "Best City For Meth"; "Best Cities to Shoot Up In"? That would help put things in perspective, no?

It sure would. It makes me nuts how alcohol use is so promoted and encouraged and yet causes more death and destruction than all other drugs combined.

Some areas do get reputations for other drugs, though--London, Miami and L.A. for cocaine, Vancouver BC for heroin, Medford OR aka Methford and so on.

This doesn't surprise me. I always thought there was something wrong in Ohio! Boring place and nasty weather don't help. Born and raised here, left for awhile, sorry I came back. Hope someday to move away again. I'm a beach or mountain person anyway.

Not sure about hungover, but I definitely have had drinks in 6. And we have 3 cities in my state(MA) but I have not been drinking in Worcester or Springfield.

For my state, the trend of the ranking is the cities that under harder times economically rank higher for the list.

It would be interesting to have a European poll on the same topic. I bet Dublin would be #1 in that...
