cooking with alcohol is not a concern... it evaporates right off. Its presence in the house is the problem. I know I've personally killed a bottle or 10 of dry sherry I use for cooking when there wasn't anything else better in the fridge, despite the fact I found the taste repugnant.

EDIT: OK... I see above it doesn't all burn right off. Thanks for the info!
