I went through detox on my own and now realize how STUPID it was. I would go see your doctor and be completely honest with them, they can and will help. Each day you keep pouring the poison in is one more day you have to deal with the problem. I'm 48 days in and feel better than I have in the last 5 years, I tried everything to stop drinking including cutting back, switching only to beer but I soon realized each method was just another way to allow myself to drink and I was lying to myself. I finally got rid of the temptation, avoid bars and situations that would tempt me like people avoid the plague. Hopefully at some point I will be strong enough to trust myself in those situations but for the time being I'd rather be safe than sorry.
