Some meetings give out 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 9 months, and then yearly chips.
After the 90 days, (so his 90 days was actually Dec 14th because Oct. has 31 days) it usually just goes by month. So if he got sober on September 15th, then February 15th will be his 5 months, March 15th his 6 months, etc
Those days are so important the first 90 or so, but usually if one is totally immersed in recovery, one becomes to busy to count the days and the month 'mile markers' become more important.
