She gave me money for xmas. no words, she was drunk.
Went to my moms, his familys and friends house for xmas day/evening.
A did great, limited his time at his drunken extended familys. He suggested we leave way before I thought h emight, so he was able to come with me and son to our nice friends house, for a much more normal, few glasses of wine atmosphere for the other people.(A and I do not drink, now)
Just a note. I have not heard a word from MIL. No text, no call. I arrived, said hi, gave a mild hug, was cordial, gave her and her husband our small, humble bag of trinkey gifts that my son picked out for them, and some standard sweets.
She returned the gift with a card. I opened it and it said merry xmas and a hundred dollar bill. '
NO words, she was drunk, lips and teeth stained from hours of wine when we got there at 5pm.
I dont know how to feel, but I did write her a text this morning, thanked her, and told her I will apply the money to our sons birthday party next week. I said that the money will be a great help for that.
I hope I handled this well. I am not sure if I should have declined the cash. It is too late, now. ...
