This thread was certainly an eye-awakener for me. I would never have guessed there would be that much red tape in getting into rehab for help. However, I do believe you can exhale again. You wrote "They are keeping him there until Monday b/c they do feel that he needs Detox. They are also trying to find a place for him to go come Monday b/c they do know that he needs to go directly to another treatment center." In other words, that hospital has taken on the responsibility for your AH's health condition.

A lot of people are under the wrong impression that you, as the spouse in lieu of the patient himself, can not talk to the medical staff and express your concerns. You certainly are entitled to that right. The only thing that is not allowed is for the medical staff to talk to you about your AH's condition, without his consent. I would recommend for you to call the medical staff and medical director directly to discuss all your concerns.

However, once your mind is set at ease, it's time for you to take some time off and breath some fresh air. Then start working on your own recovery program.

You are stronger than you think, remember to stand tall.
Every challenge in your life helps you to grow.
Every problem you encounter strengthens your mind and your soul.
Every trouble you overcome increases your understanding of life.
When all your troubles weigh heavily on your shoulders,
remember that beneath the burden you can stand tall,
because you are never given more than you can handle...
and you are stronger than you think.
