Personally, I think that
merely being a "heavy social drinker" IS a problem (and that such a drinker HAS a problem) and also such behavior needs to be addressed on it's own merits as problematic but hopefully before it graduates into "problem drinker" and "alcoholic" as these are all IMO stops on the same train which is heading to the same place for everyone on it...
