I am very thankful that when my husband got his first DUI, almost a year ago, that he was finally to the point of realizing his problem. The officer that arrested him was not going to take him to jail, however, my husband requested to be taken to stay overnight. He told me that he had to have to total experience so he could see that this was not how he wanted to live. I pray everyday that this serves as a reminder to him to stay sober. However, I know as well as anyone else that this alone does not keep someone from relapse.
This may not be appropriate, if not, I apologize. However, is anyone a part of MADD- Mothers Against Drunk Driving? They are always having petitions for stronger, tougher DUI laws. - Mothers Against Drunk Driving - Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving
