What a tragedy.
My grandfather was sober for 30 years - became diagnosed with cancer - picked back up and died shortly after. Don't know if alcohol caused his imminent death, but it couldn't have helped.
I get what you said about being long in the mouth upon first hearing your diagnosis. And as much as I know in my head that a drink would never make any bad situation better, until I have first-hand experience, it's not for me to judge.
God knows I have alot to learn and am grateful for that cuz if the day ever came that I thought I knew it all, I'd be in big trouble.
